The aim of the LIGHTAN project is to innovate the Tuscan tanning sector from the point of view of product quality, competitiveness on the market and mitigation of environmental impacts through an innovative integrated approach among all the actors that manage the individual phases: The analysis of the whole process in the logic of an integrated optimization will simultaneously evaluate the interrelations between the choices made. In particular, the project intends to develop, in the logic identified in the Smart Specialization document, an eco-sustainable process, operating through integrated solutions for wastewater management, efficiency of production processes, lower consumption of chemical products and innovative treatment processes, including implementation of processes based on fungal biomass specialized in the removal of recalcitrant compounds.
